Ayra Starr has been named as the newest RADAR Global artist by Spotify. The newest participant in Spotify’s prestigious international emerging artist program is the rising talent who was born and raised in Nigeria.
Through a thorough marketing, content, and editorial strategy, Spotify’s RADAR program highlights up-and-coming musicians, offering them the chance to grow their fan bases and assisting them on their way to popularity. Ayra Starr joins more than 500 other musicians who have taken part in the program since it began in 2020, including The Kid LAROI, Nathy Peluso, Boza, Griff, and more.
The platform’s program, EQUAL, aims to promote gender equality in the music industry and give a platform to prominent female creators. Spotify’s support of Starr extends from being named as Spotify’s EQUAL Artist of the Month in November 2021 to being listed as a featured artist in the COLORSxStudio campaign through Spotify Africa’s RADAR partnership. Most recently, Ayra joined RADAR Africa in May 2022.
Ayra Starr will participate in the initiative and have a song featured on the RADAR Global playlist as well as the distribution of exclusive Spotify material, such as a short documentary and social media posts. The mini-documentary, which is set in Ayra’s native Cotonou, Benin, offers viewers unique insight into the budding celebrity as she recounts her beginnings and more, giving viewers a close-up view of her path.
