The prestigious Headies Awards, originally known as the Hip Hop World Awards since its inception in 2004, has played a pivotal role in the growth and documentation of Nigerian music. Over the years, it has emerged as the nation's most esteemed music accolade.

Exciting news arrived on May 22 as the Headies Awards officially announced the commencement of entries for its 16th edition. The eligibility period for consideration spans from January 2022 to March 2023, encompassing songs and projects released within this timeframe.

Participants in the music industry now have the opportunity to submit their entries, with the submission window closing on Friday, June 16, 2023. As anticipation builds, the 2023 Headies Awards will follow the momentous 15th edition, which took place in Atlanta, Georgia, marking the first time the ceremony ventured beyond Nigerian borders.

Since its establishment, the Headies Awards has served as a significant barometer of success within Nigerian music. Esteemed artists such as Olamide, Wizkid, and M.I Abaga have all secured numerous accolades, solidifying their status as industry heavyweights.

As with previous years, the 2023 edition promises fierce competition, particularly for the highly coveted Next Rated Prize, which has historically generated intense debates and speculation.
