2. The African Album With The Longest Charting Time On The Billboard World Albums Chart
Wizkid’s album “Made In Lagos” was on the Billboard World Albums Chart for more than 70 week making it the longest-charting album by an African. The record was previously set by Cesaria Evora with her album ‘Cesaria,’ which she had held for 27 years until Wizkid broke it.
3. First Nigerian to receive a Billboard Award nomination
Wizkid made history by becoming the first Nigerian to be nominated for a Billboard Music Award for both a collaboration work and as well as his own single. In the year 2017, he had seven nominations for his collaboration with Drake on ‘One Dance,’ and in 2022, his song ‘Essence’ was nominated.
4. African Artist With The Most Nominations For BET Awards
Wizkid, who had two nominations in this years BET Awards, became the most nominated African artist when BET announced their nominations on June 1, 2022.
5. First African and Nigerian song to be certified platinum in the United States
On October 4, 2021, Wizkid hit single featuring Tems “Essence,” was certified platinum after selling over a million copies in the United States. This made the song become the first African and Nigerian song to be certified in the United States.
