The song Essence was originally written by Wizkid and he featured Tems on the track. The music video was released on April 9, 2021, and it was produced in Ghana.
Upon its release, Essence became the first song in Nigerian history to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Global 200.
The remix of the song by Canadian singer and songwriter Justin Bieber further made the song receive several streams and accolades across the globe.
