Now, you’ve released your project and it’s time to put that strategy to good use. You have gone through the stress of recording your music, creating a promotion campaign before the official release; now is not the time to sleep. As a matter of fact, you should be more awake than ever because you have new goals to reach at least a new person.
Your strategy might not be the best because of financial constraints, but you have to make the most use of the money you’re spending into promoting this new music, especially to a wider audience. At this point, you are the only person that can limit yourself because you have the blueprint, the plan and the cost. Go all out and push! You owe this to yourself, are you sure you want to take it with levity?
There’s something I call ‘Emergency Moment’ and it means doing something out of your plan in favour of your new project. An example? Ckay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’. I’m pretty sure the label didn’t plan for the song to be this big, especially given the fact that there was an unofficial remix. It got massive attention and an emergency moment was created to release an official remix, shoot a video and promote to a wider audience.
Also note that a release or post-release plan can be outdated. As a matter of fact, it is time bound and if you don’t implement the strategy on time, you will be doing more harm than good. And actually, there’s no ‘final plan/strategy’ because you can update even till the last minute, but the good thing is that you have the plan you want to work with, your goals and what a successful implementation will mean to you, and that’s totally fine; don’t be too rigid with your strategy.
